This painting draws a parallel between the flower and the heart.
The purple-blue represents both the sky and the lungs. The stem is an aorta and the heart itself is a flower. The energy and chemicals that flow in are full of life (the little white specks) and more life erupts out of it, as oxygen flows out of both a flower and a heart to their surroundings, providing a means of life.
Both are temporary and both are symbols of love.
